Unsubscribe spree

I’ve been on an Unsubscribe Spree™ lately.

Y’know all those random emails you’ve been getting throughout the day for years, sent from all sorts of brands and organizations: Your car’s maintenance reminders, Google login notifications, a Christmas sale from some brand you’ve never bought from, Chipotle deals on queso… yeah, those emails.

All they do is clutter up your mental space and make you hate using email even more than you already do. My new rule: Unless it’s a conversation with a real human being that I need to keep open, it gets “unsubscribed” and promptly deleted. No nonsense, no room for digital junk mail… peace.

At least, that’s the idea. I’m not convinced I’ll ever reach the end… in fact, I think some have basically ignored my “unsubscribe” request and have continued to send more junk already! But nonetheless, the positive action of de-cluttering feels like a small, but good thing to do in ending 2023 in a little over a week.
