Trustworthiness

It’s tough to trust yourself.

When you’re at least a little aware of how emotions, context, hierarchy, hormones, or any of the million other nuances of life have an effect on your behavior… it feels silly to trust what you think or feel. After all, how could what you’re experiencing right now be the most true thing?

I’d like to believe that trusting yourself is more than a lucky hypothesis that sometimes turns out well — it’s more of a deeply held belief that changes how you perceive the world. When you start with the assumption that what you think, feel, want, and believe are good... and that you are capable, smart, genuine, and kind… why wouldn’t you trust someone like you?

When faced with an overwhelming choice, it’s especially hard to make the effort to pick yourself. It’s a skill that you can improve over time. Start small: Believe the best of yourself, and just see what it feels like to believe that your trustworthiness is valid enough to create action from.

It’s not about being right, lucky, or any other number of self-deprecating excuses for not trusting yourself… this is about leaning into who you are and commanding the life around you.

You are trustworthy. Act like it.
