Don’t let your perception be clouded.

  1. When you follow tons of designers online, it can easily feel like there’s nothing but designers in the world and not enough clients.

  2. If you take part in enough silly industry-related arguments, you can lose sight of what your craft is all about.

  3. After witnessing enough trends come and go at the hands of engagement-farming social accounts, it can feel that everything has been done already.

There’s still so much vibrant, interesting work to be done for brilliant people who care! But, the constant proximity to others in our field (with varying contexts of their own) can make it seem otherwise. Take a step back from social media if you find yourself feeling ultra-comparative or negative about your work. Things can be better than they appear online.
