“Not wanting something is as good as having it.”
- Traf

Collecting nice, beautiful, expensive things can be fun. There’s a reason practically every corner of every product category has extreme collectors: The people who spend fortunes on watches, boats, cars, houses, antiques, tech, and more. It's a hobby that turns into a completely engrossed lifestyle. But is it healthy?

It’s easy to make yourself believe that you’re “a camera guy” or “a tech enthusiast”, who’s deeply knowledgeable about the craftsmanship and details involved in expensive gear. But this kind of arbitrary obsession does two things:

  1. Takes away from the intended purpose of belongings

  2. Makes you freaking broke along the way

Don’t let the chase for obtaining things steal the joy from purposefully using them to better your life (in moderation) — or from your lifestyle that suffers to fund the obsession. Being financially beholden to a hobby is no fun.

You already have enough, if you decide it is so.
