There are numerous cars with “baby on board” stickers in our apartment complex, each with varying degrees of size, wittiness, and placement. It’s always been a mystery to me what the point is… like, are you:

• Signaling that your driving will be slow, distracted, or weird?

• Asking for extra patience on the road from sympathizing parents?

• Making it known that you’re just a hilarious person with silly taste?

• Advertising that you’re likely sleep-deprived and would be an absolute menace to get into a car accident with (so stay away)?

• Appeasing a crazy aunt who gifted it to you, and will rage if you don’t have it proudly on your car at every Thanksgiving?

Anyway… the point: The signals you share will be judged and critiqued whether you prefer it or not, so be careful of what you signal (online and in-person). That “pay-to-win” features on a curation site or an inadvertent association with an unsavory brand might not be doing you the favors you think they are.

The internet is forever, and people are more keen to notice seemingly insignificant details than you think... so act accordingly.
