What’s a hobby/interest you’ve spent a LOT of money on—more so than would be reasonable for any normal person?

For me, that’s coffee. I’ve easily spent upwards of $1,500+ on just coffee gear… not because it makes sense, or for some superiority complex, but because it’s something I love. The investment feels like getting toys as a kid — it lights me up to learn the nuances, discover new facets and details, and make something that I’m proud of.

I think everyone should have something they pour so much time, money, and attention into, that a “normal” person would do a double (or triple) take. It feels almost silly, spending a lot on something when the only dividend is… happiness? But what’s the point of building businesses and doing hard work if you’re unable to indulge the child-like whimsies that make you, you?

Ask yourself: As a functioning “grownup”, when was the last time a physical thing/activity brought you tremendous joy? Consider allowing yourself to (unashamedly) do more of that.
