Life is a hurricane

Today's thought

I’m writing this as my home state of Florida gets slammed by Hurricane Idalia. I’ve lived here long enough (through enough hurricanes) that you’d think I’d be great at preparing for them. But every single one gives me that feeling of “I have no freaking clue what I’m doing”. After all, it’s a whopping force of nature… all you can really do is prepare and be patient.

Maybe that’s just it: You don’t know what’s going to happen in life, so you just do the best you can (with what you have) and hope for the best. Optimize for the things you CAN control—batteries charged, car gassed up, enough food and water, home accommodations—and then be flexible when the things you CAN’T control come your way.

Life is a hurricane.
