I’m determined to figure our niching this year.
I’ve been doing creative business for years now, and this is the one topic that seems to evade me.
The internet gurus make it seem so simple: just pick a client, and only work with them! Get hyper targeted so that it’s an easy “no” for everyone else.
If only it we’re so simple. Maybe it is! I simply don’t understand the method of choosing, optimizing, and positioning for meaningful differentiation in the marketplace.
Seems that a good place to start is with two simple questions:
- What do you love?
- Who do you like?
By merging the category of things you already love, with the needs of people you enjoy helping, it would stand to reason that the resulting niche would be a good one.
